History behind our rice
In Japanese mythology, there exists a supreme god called Amaterasu Oomikami who ordered his grandchild Ninigino Mikoto to go down to the human world and conquer it.  To do so, he was given a stalk of rice and told to enrich the country by spreading the crop across all of Japan.  As this story of old Japanese myth shows, Japanese people have lived with rice as their principal food from an ancient time and the taste of rice became an indispensable part of a Japanese meal.
At Youland, we believe that making the best Japanese meal begins with using the best Japanese rice. Here in Akita exists some of the best rice brands in all of Japan and we offer the very best by using famous rice producer Hitoshi Tsuji’s No.1 brand, “Koshihikari”.  To make the most of your travels through this beautiful country of rice, we are excited to offer you the chance to eat some of Japan’s most beloved and well known dishes with the sublime touch of the best rice Japan has to offer!

Soba & Udon

Soba and Udon are two noodles that have an ancient history in Japan and have become a staple representation of Japanese noodles and food in general. It was the end of 15th century when both noodles began to become popular and developed differently, with udon evolving in the Kansai area and soba evolving especially rapidly in Edo (old Tokyo). Both came to be loved as fast food for ordinary people since they can be cooked by simply quickly boiling the noodles and can be eaten hot or cold. At Youland, we offer “Inaniwa udon” which is an Akitan exclusive speciality and one of the three best Udons in Japan!
